Predictive analytics in quality assurance for assembly processes: lessons learned from a case study at an industry 4.0 demonstration cell

چکیده

Quality assurance (QA) is an important task in manufacturing to assess whether products meet their specifications. However, QA might be expensive, time-consuming, or incomplete. This paper presents a solution for predictive analytics based on machine sensor values during production while employing specialized machine-learning models classification controlled environment. Furthermore, we present lessons learned implementing this model, which helps reduce complexity further industrial applications. The paper’s outcome proves that the developed model was able predict product quality, as well identify correlation between machine-status and faulty occurrence.

Process Capability Studies in an Automated Flexible Assembly Process: A Case Study in an Automotive Industry

Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods can significantly increase organizational efficiency if appropriately used. The primary goal of process capability studies is to obtain critical information about processes to render them even more effective. This paper proposes a comprehensive framework for proper implementation of SPC studies, including the design of the sampling procedure and interva...

Lessons Learned from Evaluating MDE Abstractions in an Industry Case Study

In a recent empirical study we found that evaluating abstractions of model-driven engineering (MDE) is not as straight forward as it might seem. In this paper, we report on the challenges that we as researchers faced when we conducted the aforementioned field study. In our study we found that modeling happens within a complex ecosystem of different people working in different roles. An empirica...

Evaluating predictive quality models derived from software measures: Lessons learned

This paper describes an empirical comparison of several modeling techniques for predicting the quality of software components early in the software life cycle. Using software product measures, we built models that classify components as high-risk, i.e., likely to contain faults, or low-risk, i.e., likely to be free of faults. The modeling techniques evaluated in this study include principal com...

Implantation Metastasis of Synovial Cell Sarcoma: Lessons Learned from a Mistake

Implantation metastasis occurs when tumor seeds into a wound or tissue by a significant amount of viable tumor cells. Here we describe the case of a 30-year-old man suffering from pain and swelling of the foot, which was misdiagnosed as a bone cyst. Surgery was performed involving curettage followed by bone grafting. After surgical pathology, the exact diagnosis was revealed as the synovial sar...
